Matemwe Lodge
Zanzibar accommodation is offered in 12 en-suite chalets built from local materials, each with a personal touch. While the sea always beckons, 2 swimming pools are also available to refresh guests during the sunny Zanzibar days. All the rooms at Matemwe Lodge, as well as the restaurant, are directly overlooking the Indian Ocean.
You can enjoy the comings and goings of the local Ngalawa fishing fleet from the comfort of your verandah, from the poolside relaxation area or from the restaurant. Matemwe Lodge is tucked between 2 perfect, white-sanded beaches, inviting you to relax and unwind. All the suites at Matemwe Lodge have private verandas where you can laze in your own hammocks. Although mosquitoes are rare, all rooms are equipped with a large mosquito net.

Matemwe Retreat
Matemwe Retreat offers island accommodation in 4 luxury private villas. The main building and reception area for the retreat is built north of Matemwe’s main lodge, allowing for privacy and exclusivity.
All the villas feature sun and shade decks, a private plunge pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, a private cocktail bar, air-conditioning and a luxurious en-suite bathroom. Sample fresh local seafood at the open-air restaurant at Matemwe Lodge or If you would like to enjoy your meals in privacy, individual dining with a private chef and butler service is available.
