Hot Air-Balloon Excursions
A special attraction to the Wolwedans Desert Lodge on your Namibia safari is the hot-air balloon riding offered here. Soaring silently over the dune belts and never-ending plains provides breathtaking 360-degree vistas as the leisurely wind carries you over an ocean of sand and waves of the mountain.
Game Viewing
The interpretive scenic drives in open Land Rovers or the walks with resident field-guides; reveal the wonders of the desert - as do picnics in the wild, sundowners on the dunes and dinners by candlelight.
The traditional programme - providing you stay for two nights - which is earnestly recommended (if possible you should stay for three) - would entail an afternoon drive on the day of arrival, followed by a full day-safari. The Wolwedans Desert Lodge also lends itself to relaxing for an afternoon - the choice is entirely yours.
Eco-Friendly Desert Activities
Wolwedans Desert Lodge encourages guests to take a digital detox and appreciate the spectacular desert scenery. An activity called Solitaire is a zero-impact, low-carbon activity that sees guests visit the quietest places on the NamibRand Nature Reserve and creates a solitary experience – to think, observe, meditate and rejuvenate.
Other eco activities include the Wolwedans Water-Walk, which takes visitors on a guided, or self-guided walk along the water network. Learn how this complex system provides the convenience of running water in the middle of the Namid Desert.
Ride a fat e-bike, a 500W electric motor assisted bike with fat tyres, designed to explore the terrain of the red sand dunes of Namib. Fat e-bikes come with a 3-inch LCD colour display that provides interesting facts on your speed and distance.
