Location of Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is situated in the northern foothills of the vast, privately owned NamibRand Nature Reserve (over 180 000 hectares).

Getting to Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is easily accessible by daily charter flights to the lodge's private airstrip.

The NamibRand Nature Reserve is situated in the pristine Namib Desert - a world of immense solitude, wind-sculpted, orange dunes and jagged mountains. The Namib is known as the 'living desert' because of the diversity of life existing in seemingly inhospitable conditions. In this dry place, an intriguing array of desert-adapted animals and plants are nourished by condensation from the sea mists rising off the distant Atlantic Ocean.

It's a world of vast space, far horizons, desert-scapes and jagged mountain heights. The reserve lies on the eastern boundary of the Namib Naukluft National Park. You can expect hot summers and pleasant winters in this arid climate. Namibia enjoys sunshine virtually every day of the year; it can be especially hot in the middle of summer between December and March. Winters (May-October) are cooler.
