Nature Activities at Damaraland Camp

Damaraland Camp activities revolve around nature drives and walks into the Huab River Valley. Star-gazing is 'par excellence' under crystal clear night skies.

Damaraland Camp offers guests exciting activities like game drives in open 7-seater safari vehicles, as well as guided walking safaris. Damaraland in northern Namibia is a wonderful area for enjoying the Namib Desert environment. There are no large concentrations of African wildlife as the desert cannot sustain the numbers.

And yet there are the fascinating contrasts and observing the wild animals that are able to exist in the dry terrain. Keep an eye out for desert-adapted elephants. There are good populations of Hartman's mountain zebra, southern giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, cheetah, spotted and brown hyaena. Birding is excellent with raptors including Martial Eagle, Lappet-faced Vulture and Pale Chanting Goshawk.

Other Damaraland activities include mountain biking and day excursions to the world famous Twyfelfontein rock art, a newly proclaimed World Heritage Site in Namibia.

Visits to the nearby communities is a cultural experience that will introduce you to the world of the local Namibian people.
