Rufiji River Camp is seasonal and only open June to end March.
Due to its remote location, Selous Game Reserve has remained an untouched Tanzanian wilderness icon for many years. A World Heritage Site, Selous Game Reserve is the largest game reserve in Africa. The spectrum of wildlife here is diverse, all the more interesting because of its southern location that attracts a unique combination of East and Southern African wildlife.
The intricate waterways and tributaries of the Rufiji River Delta attract a huge population of elephant, and are packed full of hippopotami and crocodile. Rufiji River Camp is an environmentally-friendly Selous safari tented camp, well elevated on a high bank above the Rufiji River in Tanzania. The 11 tents and 3 suites are spaced along the river in a lush stretch of woodland populated by numerous birds and monkeys.
Rufiji River Camp has a large central area - lounge and small library, bar and dining area are all under one high thatch roof with stone floors. A campfire is situated in the front of the camp. A shaded swimming pool with loungers is available for those wishing to relax and sunbathe in between Rufiji River safari activities.
Rufiji River Camp welcomes children, but they must share a tent with adults. There are no child-care or babysitting facilities available, children are the full responsibility of the parents at all times. Parents should also be aware that this camp is not fenced and wildlife can pass through at any time - children should not be left unaccompanied.
