Position of Etendeka Mountain Camp

Etendeka Mountain Camp is a permanent tented camp in the foothills of the Grootberg.

Etendeka Mountain Camp is situated in a private tourist concession covering 1500 km2 of rocky semi-desert called the Pro-Namib. The ancient basalt has been eroded into a landscape of flat topped hills and plains strewn with weathered boulders. Beautiful crystals occur in cavities in the basalt, but may not be collected.

An unreliable annual rainfall of 120mm supports scattered and often stunted trees, many thick-stemmed desert-adapted trees and shrubs and varying grass cover. Because of the unpredictability of the rainfall, sighting game is also unpredictable.

Access to the Etendeka Mountain Camp from the public road is by four-wheel drive vehicle through rugged terrain. The transfer from the landing strip or parking area takes one-and-a-half hours and gives guests an introduction to the area, so have camera and binoculars ready on your African safari holiday.
