Safari at Inzalo Safari Lodge

Bird watching and Big Five wildlife safari guided game drives are top activities at Inzalo Safari Lodge which is perfectly situated along the Sterkstroom River in Welgevonden Game Reserve.

Big Five Wildlife Safari

Whilst most flock to the Kruger National Park, many are unaware that Welgevonden Game Reserve also plays host to all the iconic members of the Big 5. You’ll likely see them during early morning and late afternoon guided drives led by Inzalo’s experienced tracker-guides, who will introduce you to all sorts of new and interesting creatures that you might never have seen before: brown hyena, pangolin, aardwolf and aardvark – best seen at night.

Walk Through Welgevonden

For a safari experience of a different kind, why not head out on a late morning bush walk with one of Inzalo’s armed trackers? In one to hours, you’ll be sure to encounter plenty of general game species such as giraffe, zebra, warthog, kudu and impala seeking out a refreshing drink along one of the rivers and streams that cut through the reserve. Bush walks in Welgevonden Game Reserve are particularly great if you’d like to catch up on some bird watching during your stay.

See Some San Rock Art

During your safari, you can also visit the San rock art sites scattered throughout the reserve. On a guided excursion (which we can help arrange) you’ll discover many examples of intricate San Bushman rock paintings that cover the caves and overhangs. These intriguing, thousand-year-old paintings depict all sorts of images “painted’ on the rock face using animal blood and plant sap as pigments.
