The Paarl wineries produce some excellent Chenin Blancs and Chardonnays, but there is more to be discovered here aside from the wine. The town offers a wonderful mix nature, history, culture and cuisine which you can explore by foot, bicycle, horseback or car. Visit the Taalmonument (the language monument), admire the Mandela statue at Drakenstein Correctional Centre or pop in at the Alpaca Loom. The Grande Roche Hotel is located just a 30-minute drive from Stellenbosch and a 30-minute drive from Franschhoek, making it an ideal base for exploring the other must-see landmarks of the Cape Wineland region.
