Blue Gum Country Estate is a few minutes from Stanford, Western Cape, South Africa. This quaint village has a cheesery, micro-brewery, world class wine estates and boat trips on the Klein River. The Overberg is a superb option for Garden Route visitors, weekenders and those on a Western Cape holiday.
Hermanus is the heart of the Whale Coast and a short drive from Stanford, Western Cape, South Africa. This entire area offers wonderful scenery from lush river frontage and pastures, to fields and mountains covered in rare fynbos (wild plants). The coastline is mostly rugged with numerous beaches, some are small and others have wide golden sands which are ideal for long walks. Whales visit these shores in the second half of the year to mate and calve in protected waters.

Blue Gum Country Estate is located 7km (4.2 miles) off the R326 that runs between Stanford and Riviersonderend - about a two hour drive from Cape Town.
From Cape Town via Hermanus
Take the N2 highway from Cape Town via Somerset West, Sir Lowry’s Pass and Houw Hoek to Bot River. At Bot River the R43 road to Hermanus splits from the N2. Alternately, just before Sir Lowry’s Pass, visitors can turn right, off the N2 highway toward Gordon’s Bay, and then take the coastal road (R44) via Rooiels, Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond to link up with the R43 to Hermanus.
Proceed through Hermanus following the signs to Stanford / Gansbaai. As you approach the town of Stanford there is a two way stop. Turn left (onto the R326) past the Birkenhead Brewery, and proceed for 7km (4.2 miles), at which point you will see our turn off at the cheese factory, follow our signs on the gravel road all the way to the end of the road.
From the Garden Route
Take the R326 turn off left to Stanford - which is about 10km / 6.2 miles after you pass through the town of Riviersonderend. At the Klein River Cheese Factory on the R326 you will see our sign, turn off and follow our signs and the gravel road to the end.
