How to Get to Mosaic, Stanford

Within easy reach of Cape Town and close to Hermanus, Mosaic has an ideal setting with outstanding views in every direction.

Guests can take a break from city life in Cape Town and escape to this truly wondrous place of relaxation and renewal in Stanford which is a scenic 2 hour drive away. Mosaic occupies 933 hectares or 2 300 acres of land with wonderful lagoon frontage on one side and secluded Walker Bay beach and nature reserve on the other.

Hermanus, South Africa, a delightful village and holiday haven lies across the lagoon and has number of excellent restaurants, shops and markets and is popular for day trips from Cape Town and a number of centres in this region. Other towns nearby include Stanford and Gansbaai. This district is fast becoming a wine producing area; there is an excellent winery next door and a number of award winners nearby.

In the background and towering over this beautiful spot are the majestic Overberg Mountains which seem to fill the area with a fascinating contrast of colour and rugged beauty. Guided hikes on the farm and mountain are offered by Mosaic and lookout points provide 360 degree views of the Overberg, the ocean and the lagoon.

Mosaic has 4km (2.5 miles) of lagoon frontage, quite a magnificent sight from the lodge and cottages. Kayaking on the lagoon is a popular activity at Mosaic, also fly-fishing. Walker Bay beach and nature reserve is secluded and wonderful for whale, penguin and seal watching, there is also an ancient cave to explore. The beach is only accessible by 4 x 4 vehicles.

Directions to Mosaic

From Cape Town / Airport

Take the N2 past the airport to Somerset West.

Option 1

Take the R44 South, along the coast and turn onto the R43 to Hermanus.

Option 2

Follow the N2 over Sir Lowry's Pass and Houwhoek Pass and turn onto the R43 to Hermanus. Drive through Hermanus to Stanford and turn right onto Queen Victoria Street. Drive on and then turn left onto Moore Street. Drive on straight through the next intersection onto the dirt road for 9.8km (6 miles) to the Mosaic Reception. (Note: once you reach the end of the horse paddocks, the road to Mosaic splits to the right).

From the Garden Route

Follow the N2, 10km (6 miles) past Riviersonderend and take the R326 to Stanford. At the stop sign at Stanford, continue straight through this intersection onto Queen Victoria Street. Drive on straight through the next intersection onto the dirt road for 9.8km (6 miles) to the Mosaic Reception. (Note: once you reach the end of the horse paddocks, the road to Mosaic splits to the right).
