Hwange National Park Wildlife
The best way to take on the great expanse of Hwange National Park is by way of 4x4 game drives which depart camp in the early morning and in the late afternoon (which leads into the evening). This is big game country so expect to see more than a few elephants, lions, buffalos, and giraffes from almost every angle. Night drives are especially thrilling and will reveal the more secretive, nocturnal creatures like hyena, bushbabies and aardvark.
A Spot of Birding
Bird lovers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to birdwatching in Hwange National Park. The park boasts a wealth of varied habitats; watering holes, forests, flood plains, mud pans and wetlands that a vast array of resident and migratory species (420 in total).
Whether at camp or our on game drives and bush walks, keep your eyes peeled for the Big 6 which consists Lappet-faced Vulture, Saddle-billed Stork, Ground Hornbill, Martial Eagle, Kori Bustard and the most difficult of all – the nocturnal Pel’s Fishing Owl.
