Walk it Out
The walking trails at Cederberg Ridge will take you through the reserve's unique landscape filled with fynbos and curious, craggy rock formations. They range from an easy 45 minutes to over three hours. If you're a first time visitor, walking maps are available at the front desk. Our favourite route is the hike up the iconic Spitzkop peak with its incredible panoramic views (it's the perfect spot for a sundowner).
Go for a Peddle
If you're an avid mountain biker, you're in the right place. There are well-marked biking trails available on the property with bikes available for you to use if you don't have your own gear. Try a guided experience, or peddle out on your own. The routes range from an easy track (less than an hour) to something more advanced for experienced cyclists. The staff will also be able to advise top-rated routes located off the property – the Cederberg is a mountain biker's paradise!
A Dam Good Time
For an experience of a different kind, the Clanwilliam dam provides a stunning setting for boat cruises, and a few water-based activities too (tubing, fishing, waterskiing). This Cederberg getaway is the perfect place to be during the hot summer months from November to February. Make your way here for a picnic, or step aboard the sundowner cruise.
Discover Rock Art
One of the most popular excursions to take from Cederberg Ridge is the guided walk to explore the ancient rock art sites. These walk take a full morning (3 to 4 hours), depending on your interest level. If you are extremely keen to see even more art, the Cederberg Mountains boasts 2,500 documented sites, making it one of the best locations in the world for rock art.
Enjoy a Good Cuppa
While the Cederberg is well-known for its incredible San rock art, it is also known for its Rooibos production. It is the only place in the world where rooibos tea can be successfully grown naturally. If you're a true tea lover, we can arrange a tea farm excursion to one of the local farms in the area. You will get a full overview of the tea harvesting process and enjoy ample tea-tasting.
