Getting to Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Enjoy a Zimbabwe safari at Lake Kariba, one of the biggest man-made lakes in the world. You can reach Bumi Hills Safari Lodge by air or by boat transfer.

Lake Kariba and the surrounding wildlife zone is a great destination for a Zimbabwe holiday and safari. There are more animals than people here and the lake is full of fish. Birdlife is prolific and one of its most famous residents is the African Fish Eagle, whose haunting cry can be heard echoing over the water.

By Air

You can fly to the Bumi Hills Safari Lodge Airstrip from Harare (1 hour 30 mins), Victoria Falls (1 hour 40 mins), Hwange (1 hour 30 mins) or Mana Pools (30 mins). You can also fly to the airport in Kariba and then either take a short flight across the water (15 minutes) or a boat transfer to the lodge.

By Boat

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is about 60km (37 miles) from Kariba town across the lake. You can transfer to the lodge by boat which takes 2 or 3 hours. The condition of the lake is weather dependant.

By Road

It is possible to drive in a normal 2x4 vehicle from Harare to Kariba on tarred roads. Once in Kariba you will then have to either fly to the lodge (15 minutes) or take a boat transfer. The only vehicles that can access Bumi Hills Safari Lodge are 4x4 off-road vehicles – this option is for adventurous drivers only.
