Access to Elephant Plains Game Lodge

Elephant Plains Game Lodge is situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is an unspoiled wilderness, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including South Africa's Big Five.

Guests can access the Elephant Plains Game Lodge either by road or air. Flights are available from O.R. Tambo International Airport to Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit) and Nelspruit Airport where guests can catch a chartered flight to Elephant Plains Game Lodge.

How to Get There

Directions from Johannesburg / Pretoria

Take the N4 from Johannesburg/Pretoria. Bypass Witbank and Middelburg then continue onto Belfast. Turn left onto the R540 past Dullstroom to Lydenburg. From Lydenburg take the R36 to Orighstad. Pass through the JG Strijdom Tunnel. From the tunnel, continue for approximately 27km (16.8 miles) before turning right towards Klaserie.

Continue straight along the Klaserie Road until you reach a sign pointing to Orpen and South African Wildlife College. Turn left and continue on the R531 for about 30km (18.64 miles) until you see an entrance to the South African Wildlife College on your left-hand side.

Immediately after the college you will see a small dirt track taking you off the tar road. Turn right onto the R531 to Klaserie. Travel approximately 31km (19.3 miles) to Acornhoek.

Please note: Elephant Plains Lodge can only be accessed through the Gowrie Gate. This is the only gate that provides access to the northern section of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Elephant Plains Game Lodge.
