Mana Pools National Park is connected to the Mozambican border by the Zambezi River that meanders through the Zambezi Valley. This northern part of Zimbabwe has a diversity of vegetation, including the floodplains of the river, mixed woodlands, vast grassland plains and the mountainous Rift Valley escarpment.
Its varying vegetation leads to a diverse collection of wildlife and bird species. Active ecosystems can be witnessed as land, water and bird species coexist. Wildlife species that reside in the area include lion, buffalo, hippo, elephant, giraffe and rare sightings of the wild dog can be experienced.
