Garden Route Safari Camp is located on the private, malaria-free Brandwacht Game Reserve near Mossel Bay which is easily accessible and home to an abundance of wild animals and birds.
Brandwacht Game Reserve occupies a privileged position in the Western Cape, caught between the heights of the Outeniqua Mountains and the warm shimmer of the Indian Ocean, in the heart of South Africa's famous Garden Route just 40 km from George Airport
What was farmland only a few years ago is today a thriving, malaria-free wildlife reserve where lions roar at dusk and white rhino move quietly through regenerating renosterveld - one of South Africa's most endangered vegetation types consisting of bulbs, grasses, and shrubs found only on fertile clay soils of the Cape.
Malaria-free year-round. Brandwacht Game Reserve and the greater Mossel Bay area are entirely malaria-free, making this an ideal safari destination for families, pregnant travellers, and anyone who prefers to leave the prophylactics at home.

Brandwacht Game Reserve takes its name from the small village that neighbours it, a relationship that is central to its identity. Community upliftment, ranger training, and school visits from Brandwacht Village children are woven into the fabric of daily life here.
The Brandwacht Conservation Foundation was established in 2021 to formalise these conservation and community efforts, including funding the protection of white rhino and training local rangers.
Garden Route Safari Camp serves as the gateway to the reserve - the means through which sustainable eco-tourism funds the ongoing work of rewilding. When you stay here, your visit contributes directly to one of the most compelling conservation projects in the Southern Cape

George Airport (GRJ) receives daily flights from both Johannesburg and Cape Town, with a flight time of roughly 45–50 minutes from Cape Town and just over an hour from Johannesburg.
From George Airport, Garden Route Safari Camp is approximately 40 km away - a pleasant 20–25 minute drive west along the N2. Airport transfers can be arranged directly with the lodge, simply let the team know your arrival details at the time of booking.
From George, follow the N2 westward towards Mossel Bay. The drive is straightforward and scenic, with the Outeniqua Mountains framing the route to your north and the Indian Ocean coastline appearing periodically to the south.
Mossel Bay itself is worth a brief stop - the old lighthouse, the Post Office Tree, and the point where Bartolomeu Dias made landfall in 1488 are all within a short walk of each other. From Mossel Bay town, the reserve is only a further 10 minutes.
