Location of Sekoma Island, Zambezi River

Sitting pretty on the riverside, Sekoma Island in Zambia is just the place to drop a line and enjoy fishing in peace.

Located at the Mambova Rapids on the Zambezi River, this Zambia game lodge is tucked away on the island in amongst typical riverine forest. The river is teaming with Tiger fish and a wide variety of Bream, also Sharptoothed Catfish and the African Pike.

The best time for fishing in Zambia is between the end of May, once flood waters have receded and March of the following year when the floods start. It is a policy of this Zambia game lodge to operate a strict catch and release programme.

Getting to the lodge

Sekoma Island is situated 80km (50 miles) upstream from Victoria Falls and is easily accessible by boat from Mambova, where there is a secure parking area and transfers are made to the lodge.

There are regular scheduled flights into Livingstone, Zambia and Kasane Botswana. Transfers from Livingstone to Mambova by vehicle can be requested.

If guests are arriving at Kasane, they are met at immigration and transferred by boat to the lodge. Secure parking is also available at the Sekoma Island office in Kasane.
