Knysna is a town in the Western Cape in South Africa that lies on the Knysna Lagoon which is a warm water estuary famous for its beauty and endangered sea-horse colony.
It is in the Garden Route which is well known for its ten nature reserves, marine reserves, Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountain ranges lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast.
Knysna is a popular destination for tourists and has a year-round warm climate. It is also popular with golfers with the Knysna Golf course situated on the lagoon and is also home to Mitchell’s Brewery.
There are some elusive elephants in the Knysna forests whose images have been captured on hidden cameras but have not been seen live by anyone. This gives you an idea of how thick the forest is and what a large area it encompasses.
There are many great restaurants in Knysna with fantastic ones lying next to the water of the lagoon in the popular Knysna Waterfront as well as at The Heads where the lagoon runs into the sea.
