Directions to Umlani Bushcamp

Umlani Bushcamp is an exclusive, rustic bushcamp situated on the banks of the Nshlaralumi River, within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.

Umlani Bushcamp is situated in the famous Timbavati Private Game Reserve in Kruger National Park, South Africa. The fence between the two has been removed allowing game to wander freely in their natural environment. This 10 000 hectare wilderness sanctuary is home to approximately 40 mammal species and over 350 bird species.

How to get there By Air

SA Express runs one daily flight from Cape Town via Sun City Resort, and one direct from Johannesburg, terminating at Eastgate Airport (formally Hoedspruit Airport).

Transfers

Transfers can be arranged from the airport to the camp in Timbavati Game Reserve in South Africa. To use this option, contact Siyabona Africa in advance.

By Road

From Johannesburg, Gauteng is an approximately 5 hour drive. Take the N12 highway towards Witbank. This eventually joins the N4 highway at Witbank.

Directions from Pretoria

Take the N4 towards Witbank. The N4 highway is also the highway/main route to Nelspruit and Maputo. At the toll road pay R22.00. Take the left off ramp to Belfast. Pass through the town of Belfast and follow the road signs turning right onto the R540 to Dullstroom. Follow the signs on the R540 to Lyndenburg. At the T-junction outside Lyndenburg, turn left.

Pass the town of Lyndenburg and follow the road signs. Turn left onto the R36 towards Orighstad. Pass the town of Orighstad and continue to Hoedspruit. Pass through the mountainous region and the Strijdom Tunnel. This road will lead you into Hoedspruit.

Pass through the town of Hoedspruit and at the second four way stop, turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie and Acornhoek. After 7 kilometres (4.3 miles), turn left to the Timbavati Private Game Reserve in South Africa. After 19 kilometres (11.8 miles) of tar road (potholes), cross the Klaserie River Bridge. After the bridge, the road becomes a dirt road and travel for another 10 kilometres (6.2 miles).

Enter the Timbavati Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Here you will pay R65 for issue of permit per vehicle plus R90 per guest. Once through the main gate you will find the Umlani sign on your left. At that point turn right onto the small bush road. Follow the small wooden signs to the camp.

Panorama Route

Alternatively, you can drive via the Panorama Route. This route takes in Dullstroom, God's Window, Blyde River Canyon, Mac Mac Falls and other scenic wonders. This route is well worth it as you take in spectacular scenery and drive through quaint towns and villages.
