Getting to Hitgeheim Country Lodge, near Addo

Hitgeheim Country Lodge is situated in the scenic Garden Route near the Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.

Hitgeheim Country Lodge is located in the beautiful Garden Route just 15 minutes from the well known Addo Elephant National Park. This Garden Route lodge is also situated just 72km (44.7 miles) from Port Elizabeth Airport.

Transfers from Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport in Port Elizabeth (now called Gqeberha) can be arranged to and from Hitgeheim Country Lodge.

Directions from the Garden Route / Port Elizabeth

Drive along the N2 towards Grahamstown. About 10km (6.2 miles) outside Port Elizabeth, you will cross the Swartkops River. Drive past Bluewater Pay and turn left at the first exit sign posted Motherwell / Markman / St George's. Turn left onto the R335 and continue on the road to Addo for about 45km (27.9 miles).

After crossing the railway line, turn left onto the R336 towards Kirkwood. Travel along the R336 for about 9km (5.5 miles) and turn left at the Hitgeheim Country Lodge signboard. Drive for another 2km (1.2 miles) and then turn left at the main entrance into the eco-reserve. Follow the signs to the main lodge. Guests are advised to keep a lookout for animals and to drive slow.

Directions from Graaff-Reinet

From Graaff-Reinet, take the R75 to Port Elizabeth and turn left onto the R335 towards Kirkwood / Addo Elephant National Park. At the 4-way stop in Main Street in Kirkwood, turn right.

Continue for about 17km (10.5 miles) and pass through Summerville. Travel for another 3km (1.8 miles) and turn right at the Hitgeheim Country Lodge sign into the eco-reserve. Follow the signs to the main lodge. Guests should keep an eye out for any animals while driving in the eco-reserve.
