Bartholomeus Klip's rose-filled gardens and ancient Oak trees surround the house, with benches tucked away in quiet places perfect for absorbing the peace and relaxed atmosphere. Nearby, the deck of the salt-water swimming pool is ideal for sunbathing or sundowners, and the boathouse, where the wonderful brunches are served, has a spectacular view over the dam.
Bartholomeus Klip is a wonderful opportunity for the energetic to enjoy walks or hikes in the reserve, ride mountain bikes through the wheat fields, windsurfing, birdwatching or boating on the dam, visiting the Buffalo and Quagga breeding projects and inspect the farming operations.
As well as everything happening at Bartholomeus Klip itself (including game drives twice daily through the reserve), there are many attractions in the area. Get the kitchen to make you a picnic, and put a bit of romance in your day. For the more laid-back, there are loungers in the gardens; at the edge of the dam or on the deck of the salt-water swimming pool - read, relax, or even fall asleep.
The food is served in French tradition with some local flavour - which is one of the highlights while staying at Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse. On the deck overlooking the dam, enjoy dishes such as salmon trout layered with fresh coriander and ginger wrapped in phyllo pastry, with a lemon beurre blanc, and chocolate truffle cake.
Bartholomeus Klip also has a conference facility, which can cater for small groups of 30 people for a day conference, or 16 overnight in shared accommodation. The Deck House is separate from the farm house, ensuring privacy. A breakaway room is located upstairs, where conference delegates can also relax and enjoy some of the scenic views. The conference room features standard conference equipment.
