Things to do at Thorntree River Lodge

There is plenty to keep yourself busy at Thorntree River Lodge with activities like 4x4 game drives, Zambezi River sunset cruises and exploring the adventure-filled hub of Victoria Falls.

Get Out and About

As Thorntree River Lodge is situated in Zambia's Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, it is only a short distance from Livingstone and Victoria Falls, which offers several adrenalin-busting activities.

Siyabona Africa can also arrange for you to visit the nearby local village to learn about the heritage, customs and day to day life of local Zambia communities. Then, after an eventful day, sunset cruises are an absolute must on Thorntree's private boat, complete with epic views and safari sundowners.

Catch Up On Some History

Even if you're not a huge history buff, we highly recommend a visit to the Livingstone Museum during your stay at Thorntree River Lodge. The museum features sections on archaeology, history, ethnography, natural history and art. It also houses some fascinating Tonga ritual artefacts, a life-sized model African village, and a collection of David Livingstone memorabilia including historical maps dating back to 1690.

Get in Some Safari Time

Don't forget to embrace safari life at Thorntree. Opt for a round of fishing (catch and release fishing), canoeing, rhino tracking, and guided game drives into Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. This region is home to a variety of birds and animals, including 35 species of raptors (such as Taita falcon, black eagle, peregrine falcon and augur buzzard), Grant's zebra, warthog, sable, eland, impala and white rhino.
