Getting to Nambiti Hills Private Game Lodge

The Nambiti Big 5 Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal lies just east of Ladysmith in this extraordinarily beautiful and geographically diverse region. The reserve is home to Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino, as well as over 30 other animal species. It is also rich in birdlife and indigenous flora.

The reserve's 8 093 hectares / 20 000 acres encompasses a wide range of biodiversity that includes savannah, thornveld, ravine bush, magnificent acacia trees and extensive grasslands. Abundant nutrient-rich vegetation, perennial rivers and dams support one of the highest concentrations of game in South Africa.

Nambiti Big 5 game reserve, KwaZulu-Natal is one of the few private reserves in Africa where species have the space and habitat to roam freely. The size of the reserve allows herbivores to live in large herds. Nambiti is an ideal breeding and animal relocation area.

The Nambiti Private Game Reserve has its own airfield and helipad and is located 23km / 14 miles east of Ladysmith. Gates for the reserve are open from 06h00 and close at 18h00.

From Johannesburg by Road

Take the N3 - heading towards Durban
After van Reenen's Pass take the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp
Take R103 towards Ladysmith then travel along the N11 towards Newcastle
Take D45 - Right (about 7km / 4 miles after the last traffic light as you leave Ladysmith), this is a dirt road.
At the T-junction turn right onto the D46. Continue for about 4km / 2.5 miles until you reach a staffed gate house on the left, sign posted Nambiti

From Durban

Take the N3 - heading towards Johannesburg, go past Mooi River Toll
Take Bergville / Ladysmith off-ramp
Turn right towards Colenso / Ladysmith. Travel past Colenso
Go through Ladysmith following the N11 towards Newcastle
Take D45 - Right (about 7km / 4 miles after the last traffic light as you leave Ladysmith), this is a dirt road.
At the T-junction turn right onto the D46. Continue for about 4km / 2.5 miles until you reach a staffed gate house on the left, sign posted Nambiti
