How to Get to Saruni Samburu, Samburu National Reserve

The Kalama Wildlife Conservancy is 5 minutes from the renowned elephant sanctuary of Samburu National Reserve in Kenya.

This Kenya wildlife retreat in the wilds of the northern regions that border Samburu National Reserve, is located on a private conservancy of 95 000 hectares which is unspoilt and rich in game.

There are no fences in this region, providing one of the last true wilderness areas where game can follow their traditional migratory routes, large herds of Elephant traverse Kalama and Samburu National Reserve, Kenya, in peace, sharing the space with other wildlife and local Samburu tribes who take an active role in preserving this way of life.

Most game activities are undertaken in Kalama, but excursions also go into Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the West Gate Conservancy. This eco-system is exciting and special where various reserves, conservancies and private ranches are inter-connected.

Saruni Samburu Lodge is located on a hill and has a number of waterholes on site where a great many animals come to drink. Rare species like the Leopard, Striped Hyena and Civet can be seen here as well as bigger game and species not found elsewhere in Kenya. The lodge and cottages have various areas which are used as hides and view points.

How to Get to Saruni Samburu

There are scheduled air services to Samburu from Nairobi on a daily basis. Samburu airstrip – is a 1 hour drive from the lodge. Private airstrip, near the Kalama Wildlife Conservancy Headquarters. Private charter is available from most places.
