Location of Greystoke Mahale

Greystoke Mahale is in the Mahale Mountains National Park in Tanzania on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, offering chimpanzee treks.

Greystoke Mahale tented safari camp in Tanzania is a long way away from anywhere and there are no roads for 100 miles. The only way to arrive at Greystoke Mahale is by light aircraft or by boat on Lake Tanganyika. After all, journeys to an African safari paradise should take a little longer.

The Mahale Mountains, in which Greystoke Mahale is situated, run from north to west across the middle of the park. These mountains have high peaks reaching up to 2,462 metres (8,000 feet) above sea level. Mahale Mountains National Park has 62km (39 miles) of pristine lakeshore on a peninsular jutting into Lake Tanganyika.

A visit to Greystoke Mahale is often combined with a visit to its sister Africa lodge, Chada in Katavi National Park. Chada is just forty minutes in a light aircraft, east of Chada. Greystoke and Chada are a combination of unique African safari lodges, which should not be missed!
